How Much Rental Commission Do Brokers Charge in Pakistan?

0Dealer Editorial · · Updated · 2 min read

People looking for a rental in Pakistan are often told that a broker’s commission is “standard.” The fee is common. It is not a single nationwide figure written into one law that every city and every agent must charge.

What the fee usually is

In many rental deals, a broker charges both sides: the tenant and the owner. The amount is frequently described as a share of one month’s rent. The exact share, and whether both parties pay, depends on the city, the agent, and what you agree before anyone starts showing properties.

Treat any number you hear as a quote for that deal, not as a fact about the whole country. Ask, in writing if you can:

  • Who pays the broker — tenant, owner, or both?
  • What the fee is calculated on (one month’s rent, a fixed amount, or something else)
  • When it becomes payable (after a viewing, after a contract, or earlier)
  • What happens if you find the same property another way

If the answers are vague, pause. A fee you do not understand is easy to overpay.

Why the charge exists

A traditional broker is paid for introductions and for walking you through a shortlist. That work has value when you have no other way to reach owners. It is optional when the owner has already published the property and is willing to take your message.

You can still hire help for viewings or paperwork if you want it. That is a service you choose. It is different from being told you cannot see a house until you accept a commission.

How 0Dealer treats commission

0Dealer does not charge traditional dealer commission on listings. Owners publish a rental themselves. Seekers browse property for rent and contact the owner where the listing allows it. The conversation and the rent sit between those two people.

If someone later offers to “process” a 0Dealer listing for a fee, you can decline and write to the owner on the listing.

Before you pay anyone

Confirm that the property is still available, that the person collecting money is the owner or someone the owner has named, and that the rent and deposit you discussed match what will go into the agreement. Commission is only one cost. A rushed payment to the wrong person is a larger one.
